Paris, France

06.12.2005

An interesting mix of beautiful scenery, tourist scammers and trigger/baton happy riot police.

Champs-Élysées

L'Arc de Triomphe

L'Arc de Triomphe

Underneath the Arc (of Triumph)

The colours of Paris (at high speed)

No prizes for guessing this one

Or this one...

View from the top of the Eifel Tower

Looking South West along the river Siene.

A Typical Parisian skyline

On the banks of the Siene.

Great Idea!

Recessed top surfaces in the grate casting meant that a sand 'grip' could be put in the recess to prevent slipping whilst being protected from being 'kicked' off by pedestrians.

The Opera

Centre Pompidou

Now THAT is a typical Parisian streetscape

A Metro Train entrance

Art Nouveau

The Pyramid (entrance to Musée de Louvre)

Yes the Mona Lisa was a let-down. The gummi Venus de Milo was also much larger and not at all in the medium of Gummi. Frustrating.

Post-riot Paris

Girl skipping in front of Seriously armed police in camouflage. These guys were everywhere across Paris and at times I felt like there was a state of Marshall Law.

Musée d'Orsay

Bar scrawlings

"I'm lookin' for be in your life"

Nath and a guy who's name I can't remember

At drinks for Nath's Birthday.

Looking down hill from Basilique de Sacré Coeur

All the dodgey tourist swindlers were down there.

A building adjacent to Basilique de Sacré Coeur

This is my favourite photo from the trip..

The strangest bike I've seen for a while

This was very 'handmade'...
